iLab & Vanderbilt Partnership FAQ

GENERAL

What is happening with iLab and Vanderbilt CORES?

In order to better serve the research community, Vanderbilt and iLab have formed a partnership as of March 4, 2013.  This partnership will allow each organization to focus on its strengths while providing the best of both solutions to the customer and end user.  Vanderbilt and iLab will no longer offer competing products but will, over time, work to combine the best functionality from both systems into iLab hosted/SAAS model.  This will allow both organizations to make better use of its resources by working together.

Why are Vanderbilt CORES and iLab working together?

CORES and iLab share a mission to accelerate the pace of discovery by helping researchers work together, save time and use resources more efficiently. The research community has a wide range of constantly-evolving needs; working together, we will develop a better, more robust software and provide a more comprehensive range of services than either group can individually.

Who will host the new, combined platform?

The new platform will be hosted on iLab’s existing infrastructure.

What is the timeline for the partnership to be complete?

Over the next two years, the two organizations will combine Vanderbilt’s CORES (Core Ordering & Reporting Enterprise System) software with iLab’s core facility management suite to develop an unmatched core facility management solution. The CORES and iLab teams will work together over this time to assist customers in transitioning to the iLab hosted/SAAS model.

Who is managing the partnership/transition process?

iLab CEO, Tad Fallows, and Vanderbilt University Medical Center Director of Systems Development, Office Research-IT, Keith Dance, will jointly oversee the transformation of Vanderbilt’s CORES and iLab’s platform into the single premiere solution.  In the near term, both companies will continue to provide support for their customers in the same capacity as before but will eventually transition to an entirely iLab supported system.
